The China Latin American Trade Center (CLATC) is headed by Joe Chi, and its affiliates have been at the forefront in terms of promoting relationships between China and Miami. Between 2004-2005, CLATC spear headed the effort that resulted in the creation of a sister city relationship between the city of Miami and Qingdao.
We are currently working to create other such linkages between Chinese cities and other cities in Miami Dade County. Besides being involved in the nuts and bolts process of helping business in this hemisphere, we have hosted countless Chinese govermental and commercial delegations from the highest levels such as China's ministry of Commerce, the National People's Congress, the State Council a.k.a. the state Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Provincial Vice governors and city officials, from many parts of china.
This is besides the numerous CEO and executive level members of some of China's largest and most famous companies such as haier, Tsing Tao Beer, Sinopec, China National Petroleum Corporation, Bao Steel, China Shipping, Shanghai Airlines, China Comm, Qingdao Construction Group and many others.
On The Cultural side, CLATC is closley affiliated with the Miami Overseas Chinese Association (MOCA), With the sponsorship of the Hong Kong Government and Prominent Hong Kong Companies such as Swire, HSBC, and the Mandarin Oriental, CLATC and MOCA organize an annual local Chinese ex-travaganza: the Miami Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Brickell. The festival is also sponsored in part by the goverment of China.
Besides being a sporting and cultural event, it is alreay considered an excellent platform to promote chinese business in Miami.
The China Latin American Trade Center stands ready to help facilitate commerce, cultural events and friendly relations in North America, Central America, South America, the caribean and China.
